About Myconoko
Growing the future of urban food through innovative mushroom farming
Myconoko is an agri-tech startup based in Hong Kong focused on bringing sustainable mushroom cultivation into cities. Through smart urban farms and innovative mobile growing systems, Myconoko enables businesses, communities, and schools to grow fresh mushrooms locally with minimal space and effort.
By combining automation, automated environmental control, and circular substrate materials made from recycled wood and food waste, Myconoko aims to create a new model for urban agriculture that is efficient, scalable, and environmentally responsible.
Our Mission
To make sustainable food production accessible in cities by enabling local mushroom cultivation through smart, compact, and easy-to-use urban farming systems.
Our Vision
We envision a future where cities produce a meaningful portion of their own food locally. Through urban mushroom farms, Myconoko aims to reduce food transportation emissions, minimise waste, and reconnect people with how their food is grown.
Founder
Steven Yuen is the Founder and CEO of Myconoko and a pioneer in urban mushroom farming innovation. Driven by the challenge of food sustainability in dense cities like Hong Kong, Steven developed the concept of the mobile mushroom farm — a compact, automated indoor system that allows fresh mushrooms to be grown anywhere.
His work combines biotechnology, urban agriculture, and engineering to create practical farming solutions for restaurants, offices, schools, and communities. Through Myconoko, Steven aims to reshape how cities produce fresh food and build a more resilient urban food system.
